The classical requirements for security

The classical security architecture requires very strong end-point security based in three components: Disk encryption, Antivirus and VPN access.

In the classical approach, as the endpoint holds the data and does the processing, it is required disk encryption to prevent loss of theft. Antivirus, to prevent digital aliens in the data, the emails or the executable that runs in the endpoint. VPN access is required in order to have access to computational resources somewhere not in the endpoint, but in a secured data environment, typically the company resources like data shares or service servers. The VPN typically is done by a software that is installed in the endpoint, that ensures gatekeeping and encryption of the data between the endpoint and

These three components will add up as cost and complexity of configuration, but are required to ensure maximum security, and are the standard in ICT today.

The Lunar approach

With Lunar the same level of security is reached but with less complexity and cost. This is because no installation, encryption or antivirus is required in the interface endpoint, which can be a general purpose owned by the user.

This is achieved because as the data and processing is not done in the endpoint itself, there is no risk of data loss, physical damage or theft. As the access is done via a web browser, with secured https, which uses the standard in the industry known as Transport TLS, you are at the level of security of the internet banking, credit transactions and financial services. The antivirus to check the data breach can be done at the cloud endpoint, or as a network antivirus in a larger corporate setting.

This means, less cost and less complexity with decrease in operating costs for the usage of computational resources.
